Can I just wear Invisalign aligners at night?
Some clear aligner brands allow patients to just wear their aligners at night, but Invisalign is able to create quick and effective treatment plans because patients wear their aligners more often. You should aim to wear your clear aligners between 20 and 22 hours per day on average, or any time you are not eating or brushing your teeth. If clear aligners are not worn as often as instructed, the teeth can actually begin to move back to their original positions, which slows the process. Many patients finish their treatment in an average of 12 to 18 months or less.
How do you care for Invisalign clear aligners?
Keeping your aligners clean will help them to stay clear and virtually unnoticeable to others. Aligners should be brushed with a soft-bristle toothbrush and soap to kill bacteria and remove food particles. Patients can also add Invisalign cleaning crystals to warm water and soak their aligners to clean them and kill bacteria. After eating, you should either brush your teeth or rinse your mouth out with water or mouthwash before putting the aligners back in. Always store your aligners in their container to reduce the risk of them getting thrown away or damaged.
Is Invisalign expensive?
Invisalign used to be far more expensive than traditional braces, and it could not be used to treat more complex orthodontic issues. Now, Invisalign is comparable in price to metal or ceramic braces even as the technology has improved.
